The step-by-step guide to creating a Confluence company hub

Want to build a Confluence company hub that your team will actually use? Just follow these eight steps.
Itâs all too easy for important updates to get buried under a mountain of emails and chat messages. Thatâs where a company hub in Confluence comes in - a central, go-to spot where everyone can quickly catch up on the latest news, announcements, and upcoming events, no matter which team theyâre on or their role. Unlike team pages that focus on specific projects, a company hub brings everyone together, making sure no one misses out.
Ready to create a lively, welcoming hub thatâs tailored to your business? Letâs get started and build a space that keeps everyone informed, engaged, and working together.
How to create a company hub in Confluence Cloud
1. Check your permissions and get started
If you're using Confluence Cloud Premium or Enterprise, a special company hub feature is available. In this case, anyone with hub-specific edit permissions can select Company hub from the sidebar to start building one.

Otherwise, you may have to create your company hub on a standard page - just make sure everyone knows where to find it.
If you're creating a company hub on a standard page, we have good news: Mosaic has two company hub templates for Confluence to get your hub up and running quickly and effortlessly.

2. Name your hub
Choose a memorable name for your hub. This will appear in the navigation bar and help your hub stand out. You can change the name later if needed, or stick with the default âCompany hub.â
3. Choose a starting point
Confluence's company hub feature comes with a ready-to-use template that includes sections for announcements, employee shoutouts, resources, and quick links. You can build from this template or start from scratch by deleting these sections and adding your own.

4. Add your content
Here are some ideas for sections you may want to include in your company hub:
- Announcements: Place important updates and news at the top so everyone sees them straight away.
- Department information: Companies thrive when everyone knows who to contact and what each team is responsible for.
- Resources: Link to key documents, policies, guides, and onboarding materials.
- FAQs: Add the answers to common questions so your team can easily find the information they need without having to ask.
- Who we are/Our goals: Reinforce and celebrate your company's ethos with a few statements or quotes.
- Shoutouts: Highlight team or employee achievements and milestones to boost morale.
- Recent blogs: Encourage the team to read and interact with each other's blogs by linking to them.
5. Customise the layout and design
Use your brand's colour scheme and imagery to make the page feel polished and representative of the company.
You're not limited to Confluence's built-in macros, so feel free to make your company hub as engaging as possible. Here are some useful formatting macros to consider:
- Interactive Banners are a great way to make announcements and shoutouts engaging. Plus, if you have lots of announcements or shoutouts to get through, the banner can scroll through them automatically without taking up any more space on the page.
- Use Advanced Cards to display groups of images and text, like team bios or goals.
Add links to them to create a clickable deck that isn't just eye-catching but leads to further information - perfect for linking resources or contacts.
- You can simply link resources, contacts, and next steps with Buttons.
- Backgrounds allow you to add more colour and structure.
- And lastly, Advanced Expand and Tabs work well (together or on their own) for sections that require careful organisation to avoid clutter, like FAQs and information that not everyone in the company will be looking for.

We built this Company Hub using the Background, Interactive Banner, Tabs, Advanced Expand, and Buttons macros from Mosaic: Content Formatting Macros & Templates.

6. Set permissions and invite editors
Decide who can edit or contribute to the hub. You may want to delegate editing rights to HR, Communications, or other key stakeholders.
Only those with hub-specific edit permissions can see and modify the hub until it's published.
7. Preview and publish
Review your hub to ensure everything looks right and functions as intended.
Once satisfied, publish your hub. It will now be visible and accessible to everyone in your organisation from the navigation bar (if you used the company hub feature available with Confluence Cloud Premium or Enterprise).
8. Keep it fresh
Regularly update your hub with new announcements, resources, and links to keep employees engaged and informed. Assigning someone specific (maybe from your internal communications team) to maintain the hub will ensure it doesnât get forgotten and remains a useful resource for the whole company.
Got a lot of content to keep track of? Use Panorama for Confluence to analyse your space's health and engagement in one view. This way, you know if your company hub (or any other page) is falling behind.
Whether you use Confluence's inbuilt company hub feature or make your own page your way, a company hub provides your team with a home for information and culture, ensuring everyone stays in the loop.
